Era 4
Bonds torn, alliances shattered, and trust destroyed, the two battered it out in an ultimate display of the tension that had risen in Arcadia. Everything had failed at that point, Skandia had at long last hit an event that threatened to crush it. It wasn’t inactivity, it wasn’t grief, it was betrayal from the heart of Skandia. At the end of the coup, no more Era 2 Skandians would exist.
-Tony Mai (The Arcadian Coup)
Era 4 was meant to expand the success Skandia had in Era 3, to the other factions of DNT. Part of the reason that Skandia was so successful, was because any potential threat was immediately put down. This allowed Skandia to have an uncontested monopoly over the server, but at the same time was difficult to do in a PvE server, and had its own share of problems. As such, the Arcadia Project was enacted, which enabled factions to join under the common banner of Arcadia. Several players in Skandia also left to reform their original factions they had prior to joining Skandia.
Unfortunately, the amount of leaders leaving Skandia, coupled with the new system in place which removed much of Skandia's power on DNT, proved to be the ultimate downfall of Skandia. Skandia's Co-leader, Spence2345, as well as several other members - worked on a plan to destroy Skandia, and by extension Arcadia - to recreate a hegemony over the DNT Networks like Skandia previously had. To this extent they and several others left Skandia, ultimately crippling it, and another faction in Arcadia had its leader turn against the alliance.
The coup ultimately knocked out around half of Arcadia before being put down, and led to the 1st Arcadian War against Void, whom was the Arcadian faction that turned. The war in itself although successful, led to any public support of Arcadia to vanish due to the extremely harsh measures taken to ensure victory, and later reparations (28 Stacks of Red Matter), and sanctions (Claimed Land scattered throughout void land), to prevent any future conflict. Membership in Skandia especially dropped, and the alliance moved to DNT's newly opened Voltz Server in order to rebuild in a different environment.
